Weston-super-Mare Town Square Regeneration 2017.
Photographs of the work on the conversion of the Winter Garden Pavillion and Restaurant into Weston College’s Finance and Legal Academy and the commencement of work on the adjacent Town Square itself.
From the pictures above the installation of the academy’s steel girder structure can be seen along with access scaffolding and, already, the cladding is being fixed to the outside. This then really has changed the character of both the Winter Gardens and the view from the square. All a far cry from the original grass Tennis Courts and Italianate Gardens that were part of the Square and Winter Gardens area many decades ago.
In one of my photos – with the two traffic cones – you can see, the exising green pillared tea-room/restaurant which is probably going to be retained as a structure within the overall scheme – even though the room presently contains a pile of rubble and waste .
Also, clearly visible is the fencing off and closure of the Town Square to the public; for the duration of the work. With some skips and machinery already in situ on site.
